There is that famous saying that â€Å"pen is mightier than sword†. A common interpretation to this statement goes like this: a pen is a better weapon, may it be for offense or defense, than any weapon for destruction. But another interpretation is also apt for the statement: the pen of the writer, and the output it produces, shall be able to withstand any blow from any weapon, however destructive, that tries to destroy or repress the ideas it tries to share to the world.Throughout the world, through countries’ experiences of political turmoil and all the civil repression that comes along with most of it, time only seems to lend more and more credibility to this statement. â€Å"Didn’t you know that manuscripts don’t burn? † (Bulgakov, 1967), this is a much-quoted line from Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita. It was spoken by Satan (in the person of a foreign professor/magician named Woland) to The Master, a writer who burned his com pleted novel in an effort to keep the Soviet authorities from reading it.Being one of Bulgakov’s main theme in the novel, it highlights the important role of writers: observing and writing about the social situation, amidst all the threat of a repressive and controlling government, with the object of sharing to others what the writer has seen and not just putting it away, never to be read, out of fear of arrest or torture—to shed the light of freedom in the darkness of an unfree world. This theme was said to be based on Bulgakov’s personal experience of burning the early version of The Master and Margarita in fear of punishment from Soviet authorities.Thus it can be said that The Master has some autobiographical element from the author itself. The period when the novel was set corresponds to the time that Bulgakov wrote it: 1930’s, with the communist Bolsheviks reigning over all of Soviet Russia, and Stalin as the head of the said ruling party and of the country. This period was characterized by severe government control, not just on the economy, but on almost every move of the citizen of its country.And while in this time Russia is deemed to deliver good results, as it is considered as one of the superpowers of the world, internally, the system is mired with conflict and threat-and-control-subjected citizens. Those people who challenge the status quo and the government’s way of running the country are immediately taken into custody and sent to psikhushka where they are to be imprisoned as to stop them from â€Å"polluting† other people’s minds. Thus, to avoid imprisonment and torture, several writers, Bulgakov included, chose to destroy their deviant literary works.However, in writing the second draft of the novel, and with it having the abovementioned theme, it seems that Bulgakov has realized the futility and repugnancy of destroying one’s own work in favor of a trouble-free existence. This is reflecte d in the much-quoted line and in Woland’s returning of The Master’s burned novel. The scene and the theme corresponding to it signify the author’s revised stand that a person whose eyes had been opened and exposed to the truth has then the responsibility of spreading this truth to the society, no matter how much that person is to be oppressed.That person has to have the courage to bump through the walls that the oppressors build before them because he/she has been entrusted with a great responsibility. It is cowardly for that person to deny the world of his/her knowledge since with it; the person denies the world the chance to know what they ought to know. At the same time it is cowardly, destroying one’s own truth-revealing work is also futile since even though the output has been destroyed, thus removing any implicating physical evidence of deviance, the idea is still on the person’s, and perhaps of other people’s minds.Bulkagov, upon maki ng the statement about the futility of manuscript burning, sends a hopeful and encouraging message, most especially to writers to shed their fears and rally for truth even amidst the threat of retribution from the authorities who seek to repress the truth by repressing the writers’ and the people’s ideas. Knowing the truth, it is said, is a privilege of everybody. Therefore, those who have initially been exposed to it have to extend this privilege to others—the truth becomes their responsibility.And since this world of ours there are people who try to deny this privilege to persons other than themselves—those autocrats who usually believe that common people deserve to know only what they choose to divulge, however small a peek to the whole picture it is—the truth-knowing person, in this case, the writer needs to whip out his pen and use it as the weapon that shall thwart the repression of truth. True, the pen is mightier than the sword. But the pen is only as strong as the courage and nerve of the writer that wields it.By the bye, a pen is only a pen; a written paper is still only a paper; easily destroyed by fire or any other means, but the idea and observation of a writer, or any person for that matter, remains his/hers alone—irrepressible, and once acknowledged, indestructible by any controlling authority. Unless the writer sharpens his/her pen with courage for the revelation of truth, however sad to say, in that case, the pen shall forever lose to the swing, no, even from the mere presence of the sword of repression.

Collà © remained firm that she would never let Amasatou to endure the agony of being cut. Collà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s interference with the old tradition caused outrage in the dominating patriarchal society who viewed her actions as disrespect to tradition and Islamic religion. The male elders took away the women’s radios because they didn’t want women being influenced by radical ideas. Collà © was intensely pressured by the Salindana and the male elders, including her husband to lift the Moolaadà ©. Her refusal forced her husband to whip her publically but she never once uttered the word. Collà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s actions reflected her bravery and determination which â€Å"mobilized† the other women in the village to support Collà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s intentions and realize the horrid effects of purification. She was an intelligent woman who encouraged the other women to realize that the men were oppressing them from the truth by taking away their radios, so the women wouldn’t ponder over unreasonable ideas. Collà © supported her deep-rooted opposition to genital mutilation with evidence that contradicted the men’s inaccurate dictations. While, listening to the radio Collà © had learned that Islam didn’t tolerate female genital mutilation because thousands of Muslim women would go to Mecca for pilgrimage and they weren’t cut, which shocked many of the male elders who still appeared to be ignorant. Through this, the women in the village united together and bonded through the pain each of them suffered through their genital mutilations. There is a sense of relief and happiness that reflect off these women in the end when they burned the knives used to bring suffering to generations of women who feel under the dreadful practice. As Collà © and the village women in their struggles end the practice of female genital cutting, they began their own feminism movement revolutionizing their purpose in society. I belie ve in the first years it may be difficult because now the debt and loans are being paid off with the first pay checks but later on it will pay off to give a good retirement plan. But if in case a situation so terrible would occur and it would cause instability within field it wouldn’t be hard to find another job that requires the same knowledge because with a PhD you can pretty much move onto other fields, that may or may not pay as well as the actual psychologist get paid but it may pay enough to be considered livable and be classified as middle class. It may also take place if your patient is in a clinical institute or under supervision. So all situations are taken into consideration. With this so more reasons psychology and being a psychologist really interests me is the fact if I already have acquired knowledge and this no longer entertains me I am able to move on to another job with the knowledge I have obtained. I believe the psychologist job would suit me well because it is a very broad career that can help me grow as an individual and also help me develop a more successful career. It is also a very interesting study to partake in. even though it may be becoming more than impacted, intensive and competitive it has so many opportunities to offer. The pay for the job is splendid. It is an honest pay for such a fun, interesting career. All the qualities necessary for the job I already have. I just need the education and the proper training and I’m pretty sure I’d be a good psychologist. Within the job you can potentially grow with colleagues that want to pursue the same career and you can be potentially business owners and make a company. This job would also be the perfect fit because I enjoy helping others with their life and emotional health. Also doing research to get to the bottom of whatever is the problem. If I am able to help and save them from themselves then why not. If I am able capable of making them feel better then why not? This is the most common standard of human life that every one of us will do anything just to succeed in what we do. But this also creates a person to be more selfish and self-centered. As the founder of political science, he made this belief more popular these days than that of Hobee. That there are more progress and developments that can happen if people work together as one. He even considered during the emergence of the city-state in the Greece, he finds views that for humans not considering in the involvement of exchanging ideas and beliefs are only those who can classifies themselves either Gods or beast. He even strongly stated that regardless of your status in the society, like slave, laborers or artisans, you can still allow to unite with different groups since you also bear the same ideology and principle. This principle or belief was then been carried on for years and it was very beneficial in war as people can easily know the greater importance of unity instead of working individually. Without the key stages, it would be harder to know if a child is developing their learning capacity. 2.4 Explain the different levels of attainment within a key stage. There are 9 levels of attainment which have different performance levels, which are attributed to a child. This gives you an idea how you can help your child improve in certain aspects of their learning. They can use the SATS (standard assessment test) exam to tell a teacher or parent what level the child has attained during a key stage. Over the period of a key stage the teacher can use mini tests to gauge how a child is developing by the use of a phonics tests at the end of a year. This is also done via parents meetings, a book to show what they have done and through parents talking teachers if they think there is a problem. BE ABLE TO SUPPORT A TEACHER IN A CLASSROOM ACTIVITY 3.1 Explain some of the teaching strategies used within a classroom Pair working, Group working Discussion – think, pair, Share, tests are tracked. No hands up – promotes classroom talking Show me – all children involved ICT – Done in all 4 key stages. IWB (interactive white boards) for a wide range of files for teachers to work with children. Pair / Group work – Is used to aid communication and promote ideas. It helps them in life skills when they leave school. Promotes confidence and assertiveness. Games – Used to teach children different learning skills, like flash cards, or scrabble. Discussion – More widely used these days as it helps shy children come out of their shells. No hands up – Helps children that are less likely to answer a question. The teacher will pick the child to answer instead. Think / pair / share system – Lets a child rehearse an answer with another before having to answer out loud ICT – A tool used in learning. It enables a child to see what a teaching is talking about. Children need to be taught about both sides of the internet. The dangers as well as the fun side. So they are taught information literacy as there are so many fake websites. Also the dangers of chat rooms. Tracking – Is a way of knowing what level a child has reached. The child is aware of their progress and must make 2 sub levels per year. This is a key strategy in the child’s schooling. 3.2 Explain a range of resources used within the classroom As you get older in schooling you will find you need many items, here is a few for each subject. Maths – Protractor, Calculator and compass English – Dictionary, Exercise book, Reading book, Geography – Globe, Atlas, School trip Sports – Balls, rackets, bats, sports equipment, sports gear. General – Pens, pencils, coloured pencils, ruler, scissors videos and tv and pc 3.3 Explain ways in which volunteers / support workers can contribute to the teaching and learning in a classroom Volunteers / support works can support the teacher, by always helping with photocopying, displays, helping individual children, getting the classroom  ready by putting the books out. Add any letters to children’s bags before they go home. Crowd control by moving the children around in an orderly fashion. They can help the children with their daily schooling by hearing them read, watching them write. Encouraging them to do things and give them more confidence to do things on their own. Mentoring and 1-1 work will help individuals get better at classwork. 3.4 The objective is to make a child of age 5 to 9 better at maths and English, by having a general game at the end of a day or weekly You will need 5 different sized plant pots and a ball and a score sheet. You can split the class in to four groups depending on how many teachers are in a class. Say you have 2 teachers and each teacher will take two groups, with 2 sets of resources. The child is asked an English or maths question, if they get it right they get to throw the ball into a plant pot, each plant pot has a number 1-5, 5 being for the smallest and hardest. If the child scores then its put on the score sheet for that team. As the children get used to the game, they can then play it in smaller groups with a question sheet to guide them, then at the end, they can add up the scores. If the school has houses then the points could be used as a class total and collated to see who the top class is. The game can be extended for use with other subjects. You can also use a spin wheel with different questions attached and the child gets to spin the wheel then has to answer the questions. See pic . 3.5 Explain how the activity can support teaching and learning I feel by doing this game it gives a child a goal, as they want to have a go at potting the ball and scoring points. It will give them a different fun learning experience that they could not only play in the classroom but at home too. A child might not like a subject this is a fun way of getting a child to work and learn and a new way for the teacher to show how fun subjects can be. 3.6 cannot answer at the moment as I cannot test it.
